Mulgrave Country Club – not so called because it’s the size of a small country, but perhaps because there’s just so much to do here: have a bite to eat, relax with friends, or even play some sport.
The club was formed by local market gardeners so they would have a place to have a drink and socialise after work.
The first General Meeting was held in April 1961 and Les Allen was elected as their first president.
In 2003 the club buildings underwent renovation before reopened again in May, 2004.
In 2005 the club won the Clubs Victoria award for the Sporting Club of the Year and Best Redevelopment of the Year.
As well as bowls, the club also offers: Tennis, Cricket, Snooker, Darts, Squash and Golf.
The club has hosted the last two premier division titles and will again host this event in 2007. Also hosted by the club include: the international bowls day in November, the Wheelers Hill Shopping Centre event and also the Clubs Victoria day for the past two years.
The bowls section of Mulgrave Country Club is indeed fortunate to have access to three excellent greens as well as all the other features that being part of a multi-sport club affords.
